Branch County Same-Day Arrest Status
Start with the official Branch County Corrections page. It names the Branch County Jail, links VINELink. It also gathers visitation, mail, deposit, bond-type, and jail-security resources in one place. A searchable current-inmate table is not part of it. There is no booked-today page. There is no 24-hour arrest feed either, and that gap shapes how a same-day check works. A thin county webpage does not mean the jail sat empty. Bookings happen around the clock. The Sheriff's administrative desk, by contrast, runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Intake, release, data entry, and notification systems do not always move in step.
Check Branch County Arrests Today
Go to the narrowest current-status source first, then work toward the record custodian. That order keeps a quick custody check separate from a request for a report or booking photo.
- Open VINELink, choose Michigan, and select Branch County or the displayed Branch facility when offered. Search the full name and an offender or booking number if known.
- Compare the name, facility, status, and case or booking details. A similar name alone does not establish identity.
- If nothing appears or the arrest is fresh, call the Branch County Jail at 517-278-2325 and ask for the specific custody fact needed.
- For a durable booking record, report, or photo, use the Sheriff forms page and identify the person, date, agency, and exact item.
The Sheriff's Office sits at 379 Keith Wilhelm Drive, Coldwater, MI 49036. Its current page lists Sheriffbc@branchcounty.gov. An older FOIA form shows a different street number and a different email domain, so confirm the delivery address before mailing anything.
Branch County Arrest Fields Today
Branch County publishes no official same-day results table. The fields below may exist in a booking record or a secondary listing, but no item is promised online.
| Field | Meaning and limit |
|---|---|
| Full name | The name recorded at intake; confirm common names with another identifier. |
| Booking date and time | The recorded booking time may differ from arrest time or outside-site posting time. |
| Booking number | A useful jail or records-request reference when one is assigned. |
| Arresting agency | The likely incident-report custodian and a clue for court follow-up. |
| Charge as booked | An intake charge that may be changed, declined, reduced, or dismissed. |
| Bond | A release-related entry, not guilt or a guarantee of current custody. |
| Booking photo | The Sheriff form includes “Photos,” but no routine official online display is promised. |
For current custody, VINE or the jail is the right source. A Michigan state sentence takes a different path. Anyone sentenced into that system belongs in the Corrections Offender Tracking Information System, not a present Branch County booking check. A released person can drop out of a custody result. The agency record lives on anyway.
Why No Branch County Daily Feed Appears
The county simply publishes no official public feed. Corrections runs its page as a service and contact hub. It points people to VINE and jail resources rather than rows of fresh names or booking photographs. That choice explains the gap. It does not explain why the county made it, and the Sheriff certainly holds internal data regardless. A commercial site can look far more detailed than the government page. RecentlyBooked kept a Branch County section with a rolling 30-day window. It said the section refreshed several times daily. It is a secondary publisher, not Branch County government. Its timing, completeness, and corrections depend on its own process. The secondary Branch County page illustrates that difference.
That page displays a rolling feed, not an official daily roster. Nothing there settles whether anyone remains in custody.
Branch County Sheriff App Status
A September 2025 WTVB story described a planned Branch County Sheriff's Department app. Reported features included jail or inmate information. The list also named sex-offender updates, opt-in notices, and staff feedback. An app like that could reshape same-day booking checks. For now, though, the Sheriff's office lists no App Store entry. It shows no Google Play listing and no county launch notice either. Treat the app as a plan. It is not a working lookup. Stick with the jail and VINE routes unless the Sheriff posts a confirmed store link. The WTVB announcement documents the plan.
Announced features are not the same as a launched product.
Request Today’s Branch County Record
A records request answers a different question. It differs from a live custody search. The Sheriff forms and resources page links a FOIA form that identifies a person or event. It also lists "Photos" among the record types. Ask for a specific booking record, incident report, or booking photo. Requesting everything held on a person just slows things down.
- Just booked
- Intake may be processing; call the jail and recheck VINE.
- In custody
- VINE or the jail can address current status when available.
- Released
- The person may no longer appear confined, though records can remain requestable.
- State custody
- Use MDOC OTIS after movement into Michigan prison or supervision records.
A strong request names the full name and the approximate booking date and time. Include any known booking or case number too. Name the arresting agency and the exact record wanted. Get the custodian right too. An arrest that began with Coldwater, Bronson, or Union City police splits its paper trail. The city department may hold the incident report. The Branch County Jail holds the county booking material. Aiming the FOIA request at the right office cuts delay. That keeps two different records from getting tangled. Michigan FOIA allows exemptions and redactions, so a request never guarantees every field or image. The Sheriff fee page says FOIA charges follow state law. It sets no flat same-day booking-photo price. Ask for a current estimate if a charge may apply.
Confirming a Branch County Arrest Today
A same-day name match needs more than a name. Compare the booking number, age, date of birth, arresting agency, and booking time against facts you already know. Branch County publishes no official public results table. That gap makes the cross-check essential. Commercial listings can carry descriptive intake fields, but the details may be wrong, delayed, or attached to a similar name. The jail or arresting agency remains the authority on the local record.
Keep three clocks separate: arrest time, booking time, and publication time. An officer may arrest someone hours before that person reaches the Branch County Jail. Intake staff then create or update the record. VINE and outside publishers follow their own cycles. The county promises no timeline, so a morning result does not prove a morning arrest.
Release can happen inside the same daily window. Bond, a court order, transfer, or another custody decision moves the person while the booking event stays historically true. The jail page links official bond-type material, but a bond field alone does not prove release happened. Check the jail or VINE for status. The court holds the operative bond order.
No match? Check the spelling, allow time for intake, then call the jail. Don't fill the gap with a neighboring county's roster. And don't assume MDOC OTIS covers a new county arrest. OTIS matters only once someone enters Michigan state prison or supervision records. BOP and ICE locators track separate federal custody systems.
Today’s Arrest Is an Accusation
A booking record is a starting point. To follow the case afterward, use the Branch County court pages and MiCOURT. Arraignment dates, filings, pleas, and dismissals live there. Match the right person first.
Agency matters too. An arrest inside Branch County may involve the Sheriff, a city police department, Michigan State Police, or another authority. The arresting agency's name points you toward the narrative report. It won't say where the person is now. Transfers, releases, court orders, and detainers change custody without rewriting the original intake entry.
There is no mugshot gallery on this page. Booking photos of arrested people are not reproduced here. The Branch County Arrest Reports page explains the separate multi-day and archive route.
